At the request of OTC and Pharmacy Dept. of Men-Tsee-Khang, Dr. Surender Sharma, Deputy Director, State Ayush Dept., Shimla gladly accepted the invitation to visit Men-Tsee-Khang and Chauntra Pharmacy along with Dr. Ashish Arora, M.D. Ayurveda, Pharmaceutical Sciences, from Govt. Ayurvedic College, Paprola on 29th April 2022. This important visit was aimed to share their expertise and suggestions with regard to the grant of Manufacturing License for Chauntra Pharmacy in near future post recognition of Sowa-Rigpa under the Ministry of Ayush in 2012.

Dr. Penpa, Head of Pharmacy Dept., Dr. Tenzin Lhundup, HoD & Dr.Tenzin Tsetan of OTC Dept. and Mrs. Tenzin Norlha, Head of Quality Control Dept. from Dharamsala exchanged greetings and had a meaningful time, clearing out the concepts of Drug & Cosmetic Acts as well as made short tour to Charak Pharmacy, Govt. Ayurvedic College, Paprola. In the evening, Dr. Tsewang Rigzin, HoD and Dr. Ngawang Dorjee of Chauntra Pharmacy, welcomed the esteemed guest and led the tour inspection to their overall production unit areas. They enthusiastically made inquiries about the manufacturing processes of Sowa-Rigpa medicines while helpfully commended upon the necessary changes wherever required in accordance to Good Manufacturing Practices, established for ASU medicine under Ministry of Ayush. The team members were relieved from the duty in the very late night around 8 pm.

On the morning of 30th April, Dr. Sharma ji, Dr. Ashish ji and Mr. Kuldeep Singh Thakur ji were invited over to a Tibetan breakfast cum short visit to Men-Tsee-Khang Head office. They were guided to Museum, Pharmacy Dept. and Quality Control Dept. with Dr. Lhundup and Mrs Norlha. The visiting team had a very cordial interactions and discussion with the associated staffs members of Men-Tsee-Khang. Amidst scarcity of time, Mr. Thupten Tsering, the director of Men-Tsee-Khang found out time to discuss on issues pertaining to registration of Practitioners and College as well as call for future support to Men-Tsee-Khang’s endeavours. In the hope of continued support and expression of gratitude, the Director presented MTK souvenirs and Dr. Lhundup made complimentary consultation during the lunch time, followed by a visit to the Tsuglakhang Temple. Men-Tsee-Khang is much pleased having received Dr. Sharma ji and colleagues within very short period of time, as they helped in sharing their expertise, creating institutional contact and securing the importance of Men-Tsee-Khang in exile towards the provision making of Sowa-Rigpa pharmacy under the Ministry of AYUSH.
