Current and Former Staff of Men-Tsee-Khang Offered a Long-Life Prayer Ceremony to H. H. the Dalai Lama

On June 11, 2024, current and former staff of Men-Tsee-Khang, former staff of the Central Tibetan Administration, and members of the Association of Former Bodyguards gathered to offer a Long Life prayer to His Holiness the Dalai Lama at Thekchen Choeling, the main Tibetan temple in Dharamsala. This event was particularly auspicious as it coincided with his 90th birth anniversary according to the Tibetan lunar calendar, which fell on the 5th day of the 5th month.

An estimated 7,000 devotees attended the ceremony, including around 1,900 participants and their families from the three groups. Prof. Samdong Rinpoche, Thamthong Rinpoche, the Abbot of Namgyal Monastery; Ösel Dorjé Rinpoché; Lobsang Dhargyey, the current Lobpön of Namgyal Monastery, and the former Lobpön, along with three Geshés from Namgyal Monastery, presided over the ceremony at the request of the three groups. Performers from the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts were also invited to perform at the ceremony.

Addressing the congregation, His Holiness the Dalai Lama urged everyone to cultivate the two principles of the awakening mind and emptiness, stating that this practice is the best offering we can make to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.
