Men-Tsee-Khang mourns the sudden demise of our retired staff member, Mr. Lobsang Tsering,
yesterday. A prayer service was held at the Men-Tsee-Khang Head Office and Chauntra Men-
Tsee-Khang in the afternoon, attended by all staff members.
Born in 1960 in the Tholing region of Central Tibet, he joined the boarding school in Kalimpong,
India, like many other children coming into exile. He served in the Special Frontier Force (SFF)
at Chakrata Cantonment, in present-day Uttarakhand, for 18 years from 1974 to 1992. Later, he
joined Men-Tsee-Khang as a staff cook at its branch clinic in Nizammudin in 1994 until 1997
when he was transferred to the Majnu-ka-Tilla branch clinic. He subsequently served as the cook
at the McLeod Ganj branch clinic and the common mess of the Head Office from 1994 to 2011.
During his tenure at the Head Office in Dharamsala from 2006 to 2022, he also served as the
medicine deliverer at the Herbal Sales and Store Section (HSSS) and as Job Pool staff until his
resignation. He was briefly appointed as staff of the High Altitude Medicinal Plant department
(HAMP) during that period. After his retirement, he resided at the Men-Tsee-Khang Tsering
Dickey Retired Staff Quarter with his family.
He faced a sudden health issue two days back and was taken to Fortis Hospital where he
passed away. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. May his departed
soul find solace and be reborn soon.
