Showcase of Tibetan Medicine and Astro-Science at Tibet Fest

Men-Tsee-Khang proudly participated in the three-day Tibet Festival, “Spirit of Tibet: Celebrating Culture and Compassion,” organized by the Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR), Central Tibetan Administration, in collaboration with the Foundation for Non-Violent Alternatives, The Tibet Fund, and USAID. The event took place from September 3 to 5 at the India International Centre, New Delhi.

At the festival, Men-Tsee-Khang showcased diverse aspects of Tibetan culture through an engaging exhibition featuring traditional Tibetan medicine and astro-science artifacts. The institute also hosted a seminar that offered deep insights into the history, development, and modern-day efficacy of these ancient practices.

Key speakers included: Dr. Tsetan Mingyur from MTK’s Materia Medica Department, who discussed on the history and development of Tibetan Medicine; TASP Tenzin Loden, head of Astro Outreach & Development department, who presented on the history and development of Tibetan Astro-Science and its application on Healthcare; Dr. Passang Wangdu, Chief Medical Officer of the Clement Town branch clinic, who delivered a presentation on the efficacy of Tibetan Medicine in Cancer Treatment and Dr. Sonam Wangmo from Clinical Research and Development department, who provided valuable insights on Mental health care within Tibetan Medicine.

The seminar attracted numerous attendees eager to explore the relevance of traditional Tibetan practices in the modern world.

Men-Tsee-Khang also operated a dedicated stall, managed by MTK Export (Delhi), offering a variety of the Institute’s products, including, skin care, hair care, supplements, herbal teas, posters, and books. Visitors also had the opportunity to consult with doctors free of charge and purchase prescribed medicines on-site.

The festival was a resounding success, with a large number of visitors coming together to celebrate the rich heritage of Tibetan culture through its religion, traditional practices, arts and craft, history and political evolution.
