Women’s Mental Health Awareness Talks

As part of the 2026 Project to Empower Women’s Mental Health, the Clinical Research & Mental Health Department organized a series of awareness talks across settlements and nunneries in Himachal Pradesh.

Key Highlights

March 16–21: Dr. Tenzin Paldon and Dr. Sonam Wangmo conducted sessions at Chauntra Settlement, Bir, Tashijong, McLeod Ganj, Gaden Choeling Nunnery, Norbulingka Institute, Dolmaling Nunnery, Jamyang Choling Nunnery, and Shugseb Nunnery. Alongside women’s health awareness, they addressed community questions on other diseases, offering guidance rooted in Sowa Rigpa (Tibetan Medicine).

April 7 (World Health Day): Dr. Jampa Wangmo gave talks to the Shimla community on the importance of women’s mental health and shared preventive strategies.

April 8: Dr. Tenzin Lhanzey delivered a talk at Paonta, focusing on women’s mental health and responding to community health queries.
May 11 & 20: Dr. Tenzin Lhanzey again gave talks at Puruwala Sakya settlement and Satun settlement, emphasizing prevention and holistic approaches to maintaining a healthy body and mind.

These initiatives reflect the department’s dedication to raising awareness, reducing stigma, and empowering women through accessible mental health education. By engaging directly with communities and nunneries, the program strengthens understanding and support for women’s mental well-being.
