64th Founding Anniversary Celebration

On March 25, 2025, Men-Tsee-Khang celebrated its 109th founding anniversary since its establishment in Lhasa, Tibet, in 1916 by His Holiness the 13th Dalai Lama, and its 64th year since its re-establishment in Dharamsala, India, in 1961 by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

The event was graced by Mr. Jampa Phuntsok, Health Secretary of the Central Tibetan Administration, as the chief guest, and Mr. Yashbir Singh, Director of the Liaison Office in McLeod Ganj, as the special guest. Additionally, the Personal Physicians of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and representatives from Dharamsala-based Tibetan NGOs and institutes attended, adding to the significance of the occasion.

The ceremony began with the lighting of butter lamps before the portrait of His Holiness the Dalai Lama by Secretary Jampa Phuntsok for auspiciousness, followed by the recitation of the Yuthok prayer. Mr. Thupten Tsering, Director of Men-Tsee-Khang, welcomed the esteemed guests in his speech and presented a brief annual report. Health Secretary Jampa Phuntsok, in his keynote speech, emphasized the importance of preserving the Sowa-Rigpa lineage.

The event also featured the graduation ceremony of Men-Tsee-Khang Sowa-Rigpa College’s 22nd batch of medical students and the 12th batch of Tibetan Astro-Science students.

Additionally, a commendation ceremony was held to honor staff members who have completed 20 and 30 years of service at Men-Tsee-Khang. The event also saw the launch of various publications by the Documentation and Publication Department, unveiled by Mr. Yashbir Singh.

The celebration concluded with a thank-you note from Mr. Dhondup Palden, General Secretary of Men-Tsee-Khang.
