To commence the program on an auspicious note, the Chief Guest lit a butter lamp after offering three prostrations before the blessed throne of His Holiness. This was followed by the serving of sweet tea and khabsey (traditional celebratory snacks) to all those present in the hall. As the attendees enjoyed the refreshments, the program continued with the premiere of a seven-minute introductory video featuring photographs and memories from the various projects organized by the Men-Tsee-Khang Year of Compassion Organizing Committee, as well as the Free Medical and Medicine Camps conducted by the Administration. The program was gracefully emceed by Dr. Nyima Tsering of the Organizing Committee.

Dr. Tenzin Kunga Bhartso, Chair of the Organizing Committee, presented a report on the completed and ongoing projects. The first project consisted of Public Health Talks on the theme Seasonal Diet and Lifestyle Guidelines, organized through the branch clinics. In his report, Dr. Kunga stated: “Thirty-eight talks have been organized to date, including five in branch clinics located in Indian cities, eleven in monasteries and nunneries, ten in Tibetan settlements, four in schools, five at medical camp sites, one in an old-age home, one in a Community Health Center, and one at a winter-season business location.”

The second project involved sharing His Holiness’ messages of loving-kindness and compassion through the 2026 Desk Calendar and Multi-Paged Wall Calendar.

The third project was the weekly Wednesday Video Program, under which senior physicians and astrologers produced short educational videos related to seasonal diet and lifestyle practices. A total of 47 videos have been uploaded to Men-Tsee-Khang’s social media platforms so far, with English subtitles added for wider accessibility. The remaining videos will continue to be released until July 6, 2026, marking the completion of the program.

The fourth project was the compilation of a health handbook in both Tibetan and English, designed to be practical, user-friendly, and suitable for self-help purposes. Concluding his report, Dr. Kunga expressed the hope that all remaining branch clinics would organize their respective health talks before the culmination of the Year of Compassion celebrations.

The program then proceeded to its main event: the official launch of the self-help health handbook Seasonal Diet and Lifestyle Guidelines, published in both Tibetan and English. The book was originally conceived and written in Tibetan by members of the Organizing Committee and was subsequently translated into English. Both editions will soon be made available for free distribution to the general public.

In addition to the projects undertaken by the Organizing Committee, Men-Tsee-Khang also organized Free Medicine Medical Camps through its branch clinics. Ngawang Chime, Head of the Branch Department, presented a report stating that 36 branch clinics had conducted these free medicine initiatives to date. Alongside complimentary medicines and medical consultations, books of His Holiness the Great 14th Dalai Lama were distributed to interested individuals. The total value of all free services and provisions amounted to INR 1,679,809 (Sixteen lakh, seventy-nine thousand, eight hundred and nine rupees).

The program then moved to the addresses by the dignitaries. Acting Executive Director Dr. Tsering Norbu commended the Organizing Committee for its dedicated efforts and emphasized the importance of greater public awareness regarding dietary and lifestyle practices. Referring to the current spring season, he highlighted the need to maintain balance and make positive adjustments in daily habits to support overall well-being. He also expressed hope for broader participation in Men-Tsee-Khang programs in the future.
